Where am I going?

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”

–           Psalm 119 v105

The future, it can be scary right? We don’t know what’s going to happen next, but praise God that He does and that He reveals to us what we should do next in our lives, through both reading His word, the Bible, and talking to Him in prayer. Yes it is possible to go our own way without God, but more often it is the wrong way, which only brings discontentment in the long run. God wants and knows what is best for us, so it is best to seek His guidance.

Does that mean life will be a bed of roses? Sadly not, if we could jump right now to the end of our lives and see how everything panned out, maybe we would be afraid of things to come, or boastful of achievements we would reach. Our verse today doesn’t say ‘Thy word is a floodlight unto my life’, revealing all the events that are to come whether we like them or not, God only shows us a little bit at a time, just enough to guide our feet as to where we should go next.

It helps us to learn to trust God more when we see how His way was the best way for us to go, even when we may have wanted something else.

Whatever stage you are at in life, whether at school, college, full time work, is it where God wants you to be? And if you’re making decisions on what to do next, pray for His guidance and help in all things.

–          G

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”

–          Psalm 32:8
