“saved”?

Close up eye red - Jesus - Cross

looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2 (Photo credit: Gerardofegan)

To anyone reading through this blog they may have noticed terms like “saved”, “salvation” or “born-again” etc. These terms are used to describe someones spiritual state. the Bible tells us in Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man (Jesus) is come to seek and to save that which was lost“. Jesus came to this world to die for sinners like you and me and without Jesus we are lost in our sins, but He came to seek and to save. This is where we get the term “saved” or “salvation” from. To those who have accepted Christ as their Saviour they become “saved” from death, they were found and therefore no longer lost.

Now at this point I would have questions zooming around in my head like: “how do I get saved?”, “what do I get saved from?” and “why do I need to get saved?” Well we are here to tell you! We are here to give you the gospel.

Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” The first thing to understand is that everyone is a sinner. when Adam ate the fruit of the tree sin entered into the world, and through Adam we are all sinners:

Romans 5:12 says “Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned”. Here we see that through Adam all men are sinners. Now sin is classed as breaking any of God’s rules, or laws. Things like Murder, Theft, lies or blasphemy are all examples of sin. Now some of you will be saying that your good out-weighs your bad, you haven’t killed anyone, but even the smallest sin makes us a sinner:

James 2:10 says “for whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all”. Here we see that even a person who sins once is guilty of all. The person who just took (stole) a pen from the office, in God’s eyes, is as guilty as a murderer in jail and vice versa. So now that we understand that we are all sinners is it really that big of a deal? Well yes it is a very big deal!….

Romans 6:23 says “for the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. Here we simply see that the price of sin is death. Now this may not seem like a big deal, but…

Revelation 20:15 says “and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire”. Whoever’s name isn’t in the book of life will be thrown into hell. Those who die in their sin will go to hell for eternity. Now you may be asking “well how do I get into the book of life?!” and I’m about to explain…

John 3:3 says “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, i say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. Firstly we see that no-one can get to heaven unless they are born-again. a person has to be saved or born again to enter into heaven, now just keep this in mind…

Romans 5:8 says “but God commendeth (showed) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” As sinners we owe a debt, but Jesus came and died for us and paid our sin debt that we may be free. Jesus, as He died on the cross, become our sacrifice and paid our debt. However, back up in Romans 6:23 we see that “the gift of God” is offered to us. Now when someone offers you a gift there’s only one thing you have to do. You don’t have to reach for your wallet and ask how much you owe them, you don’t have to ask how you can repay them, all you have to do is reach out and accept it. There’s no difference here. All we have to do is reach out and accept Christ’s payment. Now you may be asking “well how do I accept it?”…

John 14:6 says “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” The first thing we have to know is that the only way to Heaven, the only way to accept that gift, is through Jesus. No amount of money, no amount of good works, no amount of prayers will get you to heaven. Nothing will get you there except Jesus. Now we know that we are sinners, that sin brings death, that death in sin leads to hell, that Jesus paid our debt, that God offers us His gift of life, that we must be born again to get to heaven and the only way to be born again is through Jesus, what must we do…

Romans 10:9-11 says9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 for the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” It’s simple. To be saved you have to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you have to believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead. All we have to do to accept the gift of life, to get saved and be born again, is confess and believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and that he died for you.

Revelation 3:20 says “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” People, Jesus is standing at the door of your heart and he is knocking. He wants to be part of your life. He created you for a reason. Will you let Him in? Will you be saved from hell and accept the gift God has offered you? Will you accept his payment and have your name written in the book of life. He’s waiting. Ask yourself the following questions…

1. Are you a sinner?

2. Do you want forgiveness of sins?

3. Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you and rose again?

4. Are you willing to surrender your life to Jesus Christ?

5. Are you ready to invite Jesus into your life and heart?

If you can honestly and whole heartedly answer yes to all of these questions then you are ready for the sinners prayer, if not we pray that you look over again what has been said and if you still have doubts email us and we’ll help you. if you answered yes to all the above here is a prayer you can say, it does not have to be this exact prayer but it gives you an example of how and what to pray:

Heavenly Father, I have sinned against you and I want forgiveness for all my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again. Father, I give you my life to do with as you wish, I want Jesus Christ to come into my life and into my heart. Please forgive my sins and save my soul. This I ask in Jesus name. Amen.

If you have just prayed I want to welcome you into the family of saved Christians around the world. Heaven is rejoicing at your commitment. if you have just been saved please send us an email and tell us about it so that we can pray for you and give you further information on where to go from here.

2 Corinthians 5:15 says “and that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” Now you are saved don’t live for yourselves, live for the one who gave you life! Now that you’re saved try to stop committing sin, read your bible (if you don’t have one we recommend you get a King James Version, or email us and if possible we will mail you one), pray daily and most of all tell people what you have learnt here! Go and spread the saving, life-giving Word of Jesus.
